Cascadia Sport Systems was recently approached by the Vancouver Minor Hockey Association to design, build and install their new synthetic ice training center, located in a converted warehouse in an industrial park on Mitchell Island. Along with the synthetic playing surface, the facility design needed to include a classroom area for off-ice instruction and a fully-equipped gym.
The actual playing surface was 58 feet long by just under 22 feet wide, so to overcome the inherent space limitation and maximize use, we installed retractable netting to divide up the shooting area and created 10 inch depth goals with wall-mounted shooting pads.
Along with the drop-down netting, we also installed protective netting, sound dampening to limit disruption on the neighbouring units, 3C series benches, high-grade Northwest Rubber flooring plus protection for doors, bay door and ceiling. Accessories included goal carts, goals, training boards, wall hooks and stick racks.
We’re happy to say, the new facility is a huge success and was recently featured on the Vancouver CTV News. Click HERE to watch the video and read the article.
